Aerial Inspection and Mapping Services

We use a technique called "Photogrammetry" to create accurate scaled three-dimensional engineering drawings and models based on detailed and precise aerial photography. We can now create "As-Is" drawings of buildings, stations, road crossings, and river crossings quickly, safely, and accurately.

These same techniques can be used for volumetric calculations of stockpiles, net import-export of granular materials on construction projects, and continuous contour surveying.

Recent Projects

Recent projects include creating detailed drawings, inspections, 3D modelling and photo analysis of a municipal arena, powerline crossing of a railway, and a 30 year old electricity substation that required upgrades.

An example of Photogrammetry - a technique used to create detailed scaled 3D drawings and models of virtually anything, solely by aerial mapping with our UAV systems.

AirVU UAV Solutions, along with Costello Utility Consultants, is able to provide a fast, safe and accurate inspection of difficult to reach transmission lines and substations. Using photogrammetry techniques, AirVU is able to produce "as-is" drawings of existing structures, allowing for a more up-to-date documentation of the environment.

Inspection, Maintenance and Verification

We use military-grade UAV's with advanced 30X optical and 60X digital zoom lenses, capable of catching the smallest detail from safe distances. We recently captured the part number of a dead-end insulator clamp  on a 500kV structure from over 250' from the closest energized conductor. Projects include cell towers, industrial flare stacks, transmission and distribution structures, building facade, bridges, and forestry (invasive insects).

Our Aeryon Skyranger is equipped with an Infrared payload, which is highly effective for search and rescue, public safety tactical operations, suspect locating and identification, building heat loss, roof membrane leaks, and hot spots on electrical apparatus.

Near infrared lenses can be used in combination with visible light for agriculture applications, to determine general plant health due to seeding irregularities, over/under watering, and over/under fertilization. Adjustments can be made mid-season to increase crop yield.
